We had a memorable paddle through the woods adjacent to Deer Creek where it empties into the Grand River. The flooding was near record levels and we were able to kayak several feet above the submerged tree bases.

We had the pleasure of snowshoeing on Chickadee Ridge at 9,000 ft. altitude, near the peak of Mount Rose. We and daughter Thea fed the chickadees right from our hands.

While kayaking in Northport bay we came upon 27 mergansers. It was quite a sight to watch them take off and travel in a hybrid combination of paddling and flying! Most were young, and we are not sure how many adults were in the flock.
