EXPLORE THE Collection
Tom is an artist/designer who lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Explore his fine art collection which includes sculpture, colored pencil drawing, plein air drawing and photography.
He has traveled in the Americas, Europe, Japan and the Middle East. He has built a collection of over 110 plein air drawings over more than 40 years of business and personal travel, always completed when he was at a specific place….never working from photographs.
He is now semi-retired from his industrial design business and focuses his studio work on two fine art areas….sculpture and drawing.
His wall sculptures explore the possibilities of metallic fabrics stretched sinuously over complex understructure armatures. The dynamic curves and reflections of light have myriad contemporary sculptural possibilities.
His newest pursuit is full color Prismacolor pencil drawing. This medium, with over 200 color choices, greatly expands the possibilities of the pencil, in comparison to his life-long use of graphite pencil for black and white plein air drawing expression. These intricately detailed color drawings are done in studio.
Hiking and kayaking with his wife Jill have been important activities that have inspired Tom’s photographic creations.
